Chinese President Xi Jinping trends again on Indian X. Halls in Delhi with toasts. “Partners, not rivals.” Cultural dances. Soft light. The same week, timelines fill with Galwan ghosts, trade-deficit screenshots, and victory reels.

Same meeting. Two movies.

Ruling-party handles sell historic diplomacy. Soft power. Multipolar world. A BRICS handshake as proof of strength. Opposition handles sell betrayal. Border silence. Cheap imports. “Who forgot the soldiers?” Both buy the same emotion: rage or pride. Neither sells the homework.

Students — open the primary text before the meme. Leaders met on the sidelines of BRICS. They spoke of mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, mutual interest. They said peace on the border is the basis for everything else. They named the trade imbalance. That is the record. The hashtag is the trailer cut for clicks.

Before you share, ask:

1. Who posted the clip — a party war room, a hired influencer, or a reporter citing the communiqué?
2. Does the caption name a source you can open, or only a feeling you can forward?
3. What number is missing — trade gap, LAC incident count, market-access fact — while the emoji does the work?
4. If the other side posted the same video with the opposite slogan, would the facts change?

Propaganda loves binary. Cheer the toast or spit on it. Thinking people ask a third question: what changed on the ground after the toast cooled?

Opposition parties run the same play when they host foreign guests. Warm lights. Soft words. Then a social-media war that treats a neighbour as a hashtag, not a file. Ruling party and opposition alike hire your fear of China or your pride in India. Both want shares. Neither wants slow readers.

Young people — the border is real. The deficit is real. The soldiers are real. The algorithm is also real. It pays for heat, not for nuance. A diplomat’s sentence dies in ten minutes. A rage caption lives for days.
